Jalous of Henri's love for Julie, Dominique takes revenge by hitting her before throwing herself off a cliff. Julie then becomes the main suspect. To get her out of prison, Henri starts to plant false evidence to push the police to suspect him.

A brilliant whodunit by the film noir specialist, the joy one gets out of the screening of La Menace is obvious as it comes from the vision of a filmmaker in full possession of his means inviting us to enter his universe.  
Corneau will have well deserved his place in the history of French cinema if only for this display of know-how and understanding of the cinematographic medium.
